Golden oyster mushroom grain spawn
Golden Oyster Mushrooms are a vibrant and fast-growing variety, prized for their striking yellow caps and delicate, nutty flavour. They produce dense clusters of eye-catching mushrooms that are ideal for adding a gourmet touch to a range of dishes, including risottos, stir-fries, and omelettes.
These mushrooms thrive in warm temperatures (18–24°C), high humidity (85–95%), and require good fresh air exchange to prevent overly long stems and encourage compact growth. They are well-suited to home cultivation and grow particularly well in warmer seasons or controlled indoor environments.
They grow best on pasteurised straw, hardwood sawdust, or supplemented agricultural waste. Ensure the substrate is properly pasteurised or sterilised to eliminate contaminants, and allow it to cool to room temperature before inoculating with spawn. Adding supplements such as wheat bran can help increase yield and improve mushroom quality.
Golden Oyster Mushrooms typically colonise their substrate in 10 to 14 days, with fruiting often beginning within 5 to 7 days after colonisation. Under the right conditions, your first harvest can be ready in 3 to 4 weeks from inoculation.
