Mushroom agar cultures are Petri dishes containing mycelium growing on a nutrient-rich agar medium. They are used to expand mycelium for making grain spawn, more agar cultures, or liquid cultures. To use them, transfer a small piece of mycelium from the agar plate to sterilised grain, another agar plate, or a liquid culture solution using sterile techniques.
