Black Pearl King Oyster Mushrooms  are a unique and elegant variety that combines traits of King Oyster and traditional Oyster mushrooms. They feature thick, meaty stems with soft grey to dark caps, offering a savoury, umami-rich flavour and a firm, chewy texture—ideal for grilling, roasting, stir-fries, or slicing into steaks and cutlets.

These mushrooms grow well in cooler temperatures (13–18°C) with high humidity (85–95%) and moderate fresh air exchange. They produce compact, uniform clusters and are well-suited for both home and small-scale cultivation.

They grow best on sterilised hardwood sawdust, but can also be cultivated on other substrates such as straw, soy hull mix, supplemented agricultural waste, or coir. Supplementing the substrate with wheat bran or similar additives can help boost yield and improve mushroom quality. Always ensure the substrate is sterilised or properly pasteurised to reduce the risk of contamination.

Black Pearl King Oyster Mushrooms typically colonise their substrate in 14 to 18 days, with fruiting starting 7 to 10 days after colonisation. With the right conditions, your first harvest can be ready in 4 to 5 weeks from inoculation.
